Motivation can easily be described as that which keeps you moving even when times are tough or low-energy. In our day to day life, more often than not, we always have things to do, deadlines to beat, but we lack the morale to do it. Below points are meant to help you stay motivated even at the lowest of times.
Keep Your Eyes on the Prize
At the back of your mind, always have a picture of what you want to achieve. Maybe you want to get promoted at work or hit your first million by the end of the year. Whatever it is, keep that at the back of your mind and regularly revisit it. This factor will naturally drive you to do the things that will help you achieve that goal.
State The Reason. Know your Why
Know the reason behind what you are doing. Know why you want to hit your first million by the end of the year. Or why you want to finish that proposal on time. Maybe completing the plan on time will raise your chances of being promoted at work. Who doesn’t love being promoted? Know your why and let it be at your fingertips all day any day.
Write Down Your Visions
Write your visions on sticky notes and stick them at your preferred place. Every time you look at that place, you will continuously be reminded of what you need to do. Gradually, they will stick in your head, and that will be a motivating factor.
The Internet
In this era, the internet is the answer to most queries. You can now find motivation on the web, whether audio or visual. It ranges from YouTube videos, Google, Pinterest to podcasts. You just have to see what gets to you more than the other. What tends to lighten you instantly, then listen, watch or read it anytime you feel under the weather?
Reward Yourself
Learn to appreciate yourself when you get something done. Reward yourself with something that has been on your wish list for some time. That will reenergize your spirit, and next time, you will want to beat that deadline on time or achieve that goal.
Habit
Evaluate yourself and find out what gets you motivated on the days that you tend to achieve more than other days. It might range from exercising, making your bed, listening to podcasts, watching YouTube videos, or maybe, going through your vision board. Whatever it might be, make it your habit.
Strategize
Strategizing can also be referred to as having a plan. Plan your day or plan how you will present that proposal. Having a plan goes hand in hand with discipline. As it’s said, motivation is garbage without control. Create deadlines and beat them. Whatever it is, you are looking forward to doing, have an idea. Having a plan will boost your confidence and motivation for doing it.
Stay Away From Distractions
Distractions will make you to not either accomplish your goal or accomplishing it much later than expected. And what we are all trying to do is achieving your goals and accomplishing them on time. To do that, you have the fight that urges of wanting to check your phone or trying to complete that series on Netflix or maybe fighting the urge to contribute to that exciting group chat on WhatsApp about football.
Have A Mentor.
Find a mentor in the field you’re trying to find motivation. That will always be a plus for you compared to having a mentor who is not in that field. Seeing how far they have come and what they have achieved in the same field will reenergize you to do even better than them.
Positivity
This factor simply means keeping a positive mind. Get rid of the thoughts of what can go wrong and start thinking of all the things that can go right.
Have A Support System.
Have people in your circle who you account to on a weekly basis. Having people who you can account to will make you want to do more. No one likes looking unproductive in front of others, which is a reason enough to motivate you.
Take A Step Back.
Pause. Look back at what you have been able to accomplish so far. Doesn’t that make you feel motivated to do more? Yes? Of course, it does! Write down what you have been able to achieve and go through them later when you lack the energy to continue. This state will make you realize that you have great potential and, thus, push you to do more.
Well, after all, is said and done, motivation comes and goes. It’s normal to feel under-motivated sometimes. Don’t beat yourself about it. During such times, refer to the above points to get your motivation back.
